“Camp Boy” is a woodcut print painting by the Palestinian Artist Abdallah Hammad.
Abdallah Hammad’s artwork is unique and different. He is using his woodcut printing technique to represent life in a refugee camp, particularly Aida Refugee Camp, which is relatively surrounded by the Israeli Separation Wall on two sides. Life in the camp, for Abdallah, is full of stories and scenes that could be reflected in his artwork. Sometimes we see him drawing children from the camp, sometimes he goes nostalgic about his grandparents’ farming life. We see several of his paintings represent life in the farming fields, a scene that many people need to remember these days in contemporary Palestine.
